Pouring Out

Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

The Apostle Paul continues in the book of Acts addressing a group of Ephesian Elders. Paul goes on to share the hardships that he faced while in Asia.. ranging from imprisonment, beatings, persecution, etc.. it was by far an easy journey! But through all the trials which he faced, Paul comes away with a depth of character which is more and more resemblant of that of Jesus Christ. After enduring and becoming more of a survivor, Paul is thriving in the spirit. In verse 24 he shares how after all is said and done, what matters more than even his own life is completing the calling and assignment that the Lord had given to him.. and that’s to do whatever it takes to share the Good News of Jesus Christ! In all instances despite the grueling challenges he had to face, the Lord had always provided for each of Paul’s needs, and he lives this word: Our focus must be to help the weak and how Jesus even said himself “It is more blessed to give then to receive”.

I’m reminded in today’s reading, I’m reminded about how I need to constantly come back to the purpose of my God given positioning. Whether it be through media in ministry or the marketplace, these are all reasons that the Lord laid out for me to do His good work and to give myself away so that others can somehow some way draw closer to God. I’m remembering through Pastor Chad’s message that it’s not only the importance of position but also how our posture is before God in our position. I need to be more like the Apostle Paul who despite his positioning of being able to make great influence to masses, he was harshly treated and had every reason to be frustrated and curse God.. but even in that his heart and spirit remains postured with humility. What I love about Paul is that despite the intensity of his suffering and the cost, he gets it and reaps the eternal rewards of focusing all that the Lord has given him to be used for the sake of others.

Thank you Jesus for living and breathing through the life of Paul to show us how we can better serve You. Help use my position of influence to reach others so that they can experience more of You. I lay down my mind, body, and soul which can at times get tired and complain. Keep my mind focused on the mission and fill me so that I can pour out.
