Proclaiming His Glory

Psalm 97
12 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!

The author of this Psalm devotes this entire chapter purely to giving God praise and lifting up the name of the Lord. It is because of High highness that we are all called to bow down and proclaim His glory. He is the ruler of all of earth’s creatures, elements, circumstances, and outcomes. Even beyond the earth, the heavens rejoice as His dominion expands even beyond what we can fathom within our own knowledge and understanding. The Lord reigns even above all other idols and gods.. they are nothing in comparison to His glory, splendor, and magnificence. God gives favor to those that are in relationship with Him, gives them protection, and delivers them from evil. Let’s offer Him worship, thanksgiving, and shouts of praise!

This morning, I have no particular revelation, thought, or even prayer request. Sometimes we need to empty our heads as we can easily become so entangled and focused on what we need, how God should intervene, and the outcome of what we think should be. Something profound happens when we entrust the Lord by laying all those things at the foot of the cross and focus on proclaiming His glory, giving Him thanks, and rejoicing in who He is. This season I’m faced with huge decisions and endeavors, whether it be taking the next step in my relationship, embarking on more mission trips this year, and praying about how God wants to use me for the next season of my life. I’ve been challenging myself for 3 times a week just to sit with my guitar, be still, and worship. Instantly all the concerns, stress, anxieties, etc. depart from my heart and spirit as I divert my attention to what really matters: proclaiming the glory of the Lord! I pray that this challenge can go beyond just a momentary time of equipping and preparation more into a lifestyle that aims to seek Jesus first in everything I do.

Thank you Father God, for allowing me to sit and rest at Your feet. Forgive me for the many times where I say that I’m to busy to spend time with You and focusing on the things that don’t matter. Help realign my heart so that I may continuously seek Your face. Cleanse me and use me to carry out Your will and not mine. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
