Steadfast Love

Psalm 86
5 For you , Oh Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.

David enters into hard times where he chooses to desperately press into the Lord. David is candid, honest, and forthcoming acknowledging the poor condition of his spirit.. Inwardly he is tormented and almost dying! But even through such a battle, he makes a choice to turn to the Lord, and what is amazing in this passage that even though he is suffering, David finds some way to maneuver through his emotions and arrive at the truth. He begins to speak on the character of the Lord.. that even after everything that David needs to endure, God’s love is steadfast and unchanging. Even through our inequities, shortcomings, and transgressions the Lord is forgiving and desires to restore us back into a loving relationship with Him. This is the true source of where our help and comfort comes from.

My family has been through years of being a family: full of flaws, imperfections, and even years of grudges of so many things built upon one another that we forget even what we were originally arguing about! That’s true family for you. What struck me last week during a rare time where all of our families from Korea, San Jose, Los Angeles, and Wisconsin.. though we may be distances apart, the Lord brought us all back together for our wedding. What we witnessed was a lot of the things of the past being released, and a new spirit covering a time where we could let go and replace any unforgiveness, anger, and bitterness, and rejoice at the things up ahead to come. It was a time where I really got to witness the nature of God’s steadfast love through the context of our families which for me was a true miracle! It was a sign to me that testified even more how amazing is the love of the Lord even through our humanity and times where we disappoint Him and one another.

Thank You Father God, for being a God who redeems, renews, and restores all things simply through Your loving nature. You are steadfast, unchanging, and unmoving though we can be fickle, wavering, and indecisive. Help us navigate through our fleshly nature and default to Your Word, Your truth, and You’re ways.
